Bridal Makeup - Prep Guide

The Lexy Lemon’s guide on how to prepare for your wedding makeup both cosmetically and organizationally

General Before the Wedding (Weeks–Months Ahead)

THE DO’S

• Schedule your makeup trial 4-6 months before the wedding

• Bring inspiration photos that reflect your actual wedding vibe (lighting, dress, season)

• Start a consistent skincare routine early (hydration is key!) Light moisturizer, toner, and serums are a great start

• Drink plenty of water leading up to the wedding

• Let me know about allergies, sensitivities, or skin concerns in advance

• If there’s room in your budget, plan facial treatments at least 3–4 weeks before the wedding and no sooner

• Ask any questions and give feedback on your look if we completed a trial together

THE DONT’S

  • Do not Try new skincare products, facials, or peels within 2 weeks of the wedding

  • Do not Get injectables or major skin treatments within 4 weeks unless cleared by a professional

  • Do not Over-exfoliate or use harsh active ingredients right before the wedding

  • Do not Tan excessively or use new self-tanners close too the wedding day

Brows, Lashes & Hair Removal

You know your brows best! Often brows are what ties your face & look together.

Try not to experiment with brand-new brows or new-to-you brow-technicians too close to your wedding day.

DO’s

• Wax/thread brows at least 4-5 days before the wedding

• Get lash lifts or extensions at least 1 week before

• Shave or dermaplane no closer than 2 days before

DONT’s

• Wax, thread, or dermaplane your face or brows the day before or day of

• Try lash extensions/lifts for the first time right before the wedding

The Week Of

DO’s

• Moisturize morning and night, continue skin care that is hydrating

• Get plenty of rest

• Confirm getting-ready timeline, location, and final headcount with me :)

DONTs

• Pick at skin or blemishes

• Use drying acne treatments or intense exfoliation right before the wedding

• Stay up late the night before (as tempting as it is!)

Wedding Day

DO’s

• Arrive with a clean, moisturized face (no makeup)

• Wear a robe or button-up shirt to avoid makeup transfer

• Have inspiration photos and/or trial notes available if desired

• Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate

• Trust the process! It’s your big day and you’re in good hands🤍

DONT’s

• Apply your own foundation primer, SPF, or additional skincare unless discussed beforehand

• Overthink & Stress! This day is about you🤍
